Fire Insurance
Tangible properties like Plant and Machinery, furniture and fixture, stocks of every description including civil constructions, in which the said properties are housed as per the requirements, can be insured under the Standard Fire and Special Perils Policy.
Be it a residential building, flats within a cooperative society, an office or a holy place, shops of different kinds, properties within a factory compound, utilities outside the factory complex, standalone go downs situated outside the compound of manufacturing complex etc can be insured under the ambit of fire insurance.
Depending upon the requirements, some additional covers like earthquake, storm tempest flood and inundation, forest fire, spontaneous combustion etc can also be considered by the insurance company against payment of additional premium under the umbrella of the Standard Fire and Special Perils policy.
Recently, IRDA has launched a noble scheme by which a separate policy is introduced for all types of residential accommodation and contents within such accommodation where apart from fire group of perils, some additional covers are formulated. Similar scheme is also launched for business/manufacturing organizations with a sum insured up to INR 5 Crores and in between INR 5 to INR 50 Crores of rupees in a location. Sum insured exceeding INR 50 Crores in a location will continue to be underwritten under Standard Fire and Special Perils policy.
